Merced Velazquez
Maria de la Merced Velazquez Quintana, medical specialist in Neurology, Master in Medical Sciences and PHD in administration.
Dr. Velazquez is graduated from the Medicine Faculty at Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua and from Universidad Autonoma de México. Her academic education was complemented in different educational institutions, like Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo de Santander in Spain.
She works at the Health Institute from Chihuahua, where she attends a Neurology office and she is a PHD professor for medical doctors, through the Central University Hospital and Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua.
As researcher, Dr. Velazquez focus on the Multiple Sclerosis disease, subject about which she has made several publications in different journals and scientific books. She has been Research Coordinator of the Mexican Neurology Academy, and of different medical research associations for this disease, in Mexico and Latin America, also she is a Medical Advisor to Multiple Sclerosis Association Brenda.
As a businesswoman, she participated on the development and design of a business model, same one for which she received the State Entrepreneur Award (Chihuahua, 2005) and a distinction in the Mexican Women Inventor and Innovators Contest, Iris Estrada Emission (Mexico, 2008). She has experience Business Incubator Assesor at Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM), Campus Chihuahua.
Dr. Velázquez is the founder and principal administrator of the Health Research Unit Group (UIS® Group). The UIS® Group companies has presence in Chihuahua, Juárez, Monterrey, Mexico City and Guadalajara.
